Physical endeavours, week 2

My twin 101-in-1001 projects (Air Alert 3 and hand walking) have now been running for two weeks and it is time for the second report (see report 1). These endeavours are fairly different in that Air Alert 3 is a fully developed training programme, whereas my hand walking is fairly improvised (the goal being to walk 100 metres). Now some thoughts on the second week.

The increase of repetitions and sets for Air Alert was, as I guessed beforehand, not very significant. However, the schedule alternates the days on which Air Alert ought to be done, Monday-Wednesday-Friday for odd weeks and Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday for even weeks. This proved more significant. The first and second sessions were fairly okay and not much to fuss about, but the third was much more demanding, warranting the four-day rest until next session, which is tomorrow. Still, the second week was less demanding in general and I am amazed at how fast my muscles adapt to the exercises.

As for the hand walking, I seem to have underestimated the selfsame muscle adaption. The first week, my shoulders and arms hurt pretty badly from the workout, but not so this week. Taking into account that I covered a greater distance (400 metres this week, compared to 250 metres last week), I am still in a much better condition than after last week. I do believe that strength is my only obstacle to walk 100 metres in one go, since I have next to a flawless record of walking 20-metre stretches.

Next week, I will spend most of the time in Arvika at a music festival, which means than both projects will have to rest for a while. My plan is to practice as usual before I leave (completeting two out of three Air Alerts) and then redo that week (week three) when I return home. I am looking forward to writing to you on this topic again in a week, take care until then.
