New e-mail and MSN

As of today, I have a new e-mail address and a new MSN account. The new e-mail is olle[dot]linge[at]gmail[dot]com and the new MSN is olle[at]linge[dot]se. Of course, replace the bracketed words with their corresponding characters. The latter e-mail address is forwarded to the former, so it really does not matter where e-mails go, but it is only olle[at]linge[dot]se that works for MSN.

Why this change? There are basically two reasons and both have been nagging at me for quite some time now. The first and most important is that I do not like either Microsoft or Hotmail. Both are ugly, unreliable and so forth. Also, my using Gmail for student purposes has convinced me of that service’s superiority. The second reason is that I want to have my real name in my e-mail address, because even though I have been using this “new” one for many years, I have not used it publicly. However, since I do everything else publicly and do not feel bad about it, I see no reason not to use my own name for e-mails and MSN as well. Also, it gives a more serious impression than the previous one. Often, I am quite serious, so it seems suitable.

I should have done this a long time ago, but realising that it will never become any easier, I decided to do it now instead of later. Hopefully, the change will be smooth and without to much trouble. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

    Make up your mind…

“The new e-mail is olle[at]linge[dot]se and the new MSN is olle[dot]linge[at]gmail[dot]com.”
“…but it is only the first address that works for MSN.”
