Visa application completed

This is nothing fancy or unexpected, but receiving my passport with a visa this morning was very nice indeed. I do not know what could have gone wrong, but anything from a lost letter to a missing medical examination would have meant loads of more paperwork and probably more expenses as well. Therefore it feels great to have everything in order. I have the scholarship, I have flight tickets, I have a visa, so all I need to do now is to wait for 2nd September and leave for Taiwan (link to category).

Many people ask me how I feel about this adventure, but to be honest, I do not have much to say about it yet. I feel cautiously optimistic about the whole thing, but I try not to expect too much or too little of my stay in Taiwan. I also try not to make too many plans. I intend to go there and see what happens. I am confident I will manage the studying and I think that, even though I am sure it will be hard at times, I will manage daily life in a new culture as well. I do not want any plans because I do not know how demanding the studies will be or how busy I will be with other things.

Regardless of what happens, rest assured that I will keep you updated. In a way, this website is not only a link from me to you, but also to home in general. I will write here not only for you readers, but also because I think writing about new experiences is a great way of understanding them. So, stay tuned, September is drawing near.
